General Telehealth Information and Disclaimer

Telehealth delivery of medical services refers to the provision of healthcare services remotely, using technology to facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers. It encompasses various methods, including audio-visual, telephonic and electronic messaging-based care as well as the use of remote patient monitoring devices.

  • Audio-visual visits utilize video conferencing technology, enabling patients and practitioners to have face-to-face interactions virtually. We utilize the Doxy.me platform to provide real time video visits. This platform is secure, HIPAA compliant, and does not require any special accounts or devices other than a smart phone or a personal computer with a camera. You will be provided with the link to our Doxy.me waiting room upon scheduling a visit.

  • Telephonic care involves healthcare consultations conducted over the phone, allowing patients to communicate with practitioners and receive medical advice remotely. In most cases, a patient-practitioner relationship must be established by an audio-visual visit prior to receiving care via a telephone visit.

  • Electronic messaging-based care involves exchanging medical information and communication through secure electronic channels, such as email or secure messaging platforms. This form of telehealth allows patients to seek non-urgent medical guidance and receive follow-up care conveniently.  We provide chronic care management services and non-urgent medical visits though the secure portal of our medical record system, Office Ally. Once you have registered for a visit, you will be provided with a code to create your username and password to the patient portal, Patient Ally. A patient care relationship must be established via an audio-visual visit prior to receiving electronic messaging based care or chronic care management services from us. Patient Ally, is available at: www.patientally.com/login

  • Remote patient monitoring devices that enable healthcare providers to remotely monitor patients' vital signs and health data can be utilized along with the above telehealth care delivery methods. These devices, such as wearable sensors or home monitoring equipment, allow for real-time data collection and transmission to healthcare professionals. Remote patient monitoring is particularly valuable for managing chronic conditions or monitoring patients with specific health concerns. It provides a continuous stream of health information, enabling healthcare providers to track progress, detect abnormalities, and intervene when necessary.

These telehealth methods offer flexibility, convenience, and increased accessibility to healthcare services. However, it is important to note that certain medical services still require a more comprehensive physical examination that may not be feasible through telehealth. In such cases, an in-person visit may be necessary for a thorough assessment. Furthermore, while telehealth has proven effective for many conditions and situations, there are circumstances where the evidence supporting the delivery of care via telehealth may be limited or inconclusive. In these cases, we will work with you and your local care team to coordinate your care and refer you to other healthcare providers when appropriate.
